Waterworks-Lamson Speedster S Reels

A Reel “Hot Rod”

On The Fly Gear

March 2020

The Waterworks-Lamson Speedster S line of reels have been described as reel “hot rods.” That moniker is well earned with regard to retrieve rates. That retrieve ratio can be attributed to several design features on the Speedster S series.

These reels have a narrower spool, a larger outer diameter and a handle that is mounted inboard. The large reel circumference and handle improvement account for the faster retrieves. Meanwhile, the narrow spool prevents barreling of the line, ensuring for smoother line stacking. Also, these reels feature the Waterwork-Lamson dependable maintenance-free drag system.

You will also find that the Speedster S series is significantly lighter than most reels in the category. That results from an enhanced spool machining technique that only uses material where it’s needed. Those materials are machined 6061 aluminum and stainless steel.

The reels come in Midnight and Ember Type II, anodized finishes, making them just as easy on the eye as they are functional.

The reels come in four sizes covering rod weights of 2 through 10. Price points are from $349.99 to $429.99, with spare spools in the 159.99 to $199.99 range. For more details visit waterworks-lamson.com.
