The Universal Joint patio.
Nestled in an old gas station in the North Georgia mountains, the Universal Joint is a friendly neighborhood restaurant in the heart of Clayton, Georgia. It is my go-to place when visiting or fishing in that portion of the state. It has a welcoming and fun atmosphere, whether sitting inside at the bar or outdoors on their dog-friendly patio. There is live music on weekends, a fire pit and corn hole for enjoying on the patio as well.
The food is very good with a wide variety of options. They pride themselves with their award-winning half-pound burger. Universal Joint has a full bar with rotating beers, including local drafts from Georgia and the Carolinas, and seasonal drink selections.

The inside bar.
Favorite food choices, in addition to their half-pound burgers, are Southwest chicken quesadilla and smoked briskit dip. Other favorites include spicy egg rolls, BBQ nachos, and rlounder tacos. Lighter snacks include queso and salsa, edemame, fries, pimento cheese plate, hummus, wings, and buffalo shrimp. Vegan-friendly options are available, such as house-made black bean burgers and a broad assortment of salads for every taste. Their extensive menu is divided into snacks, salads, burgers & such, sandwiches, quesadillas and tacos, variations on these dishes and a children’s menu as well.

The award winner!
