A Classic Reimagined
On The Fly Gear
October 2022

The Thomas & Thomas Paradigm Rod series has been around for a couple of decades now and is considered by many as one of the best dry fly rods ever created. The company, however, has chosen not to rest on its laurels. Instead, they had re-envisioned the series, aiming to provide a new standard for the present century.

Basically, the new Paradigm line takes advantage of the technological advances of the last 20 years with regard to casting distances, line speed and rod weights. At the same time, the features that made the original Paradigms so good for presenting the fly to rising trout have been retained. Stalking fish with these rods is designed to be a pleasure.
As with all T&T rods, these are not “assembly-line” gear. The new Paradigms are handcrafted in the company’s Greenfield, Massachusetts factory. That leads to a bit of “delayed gratification,” in the form of waits of 4 to 6 weeks for delivery.
The new Paradigms are ultra-light weight, providing smooth, medium-flex action for the control needed for accurate casts and delicate presentations.
The rods feature lightweight titanium, single foot RED guides, along with matte titanium finish roll-stamped hardware. They also come with a new semi-gloss surface and American-sourced Bird’s Eye Maple spacers. The visual accents include hand-written logos and serial numbers.
