Salina Point Bonefish Lodge is located off the beaten path as far as the Bahamas are concerned, but not difficult to reach. Just a stone’s throw away from Cuba, Salina Point is situated on the western end of Acklins Island, very near the southern end of the Bahamas chain of isles.

It is a lodge that feels secluded, being over a mile and a half off the main road. It has five guest rooms overlooking an uninhabited beach on the aqua waters of the Bight of Acklin. Each room has two queen-sized beds, a full bath, ceiling fan and air conditioning and spacious shelving for storing your gear.

The dining room serves breakfast to order, and lunches are packed in the morning to be taken with you on your day of fishing. At the end of your day o the water a delicious dinner featuring local lobster, conch, fish, chicken or ribs awaits. A huge porch spans the entire length of the lodge and is the ideal place to relax with a cool beverage for reliving your day on the water.

The primary fishing areas include miles of flats, mangroves and creek systems of the the middle and southern end of Acklins Island. Many of the flats are wadeable where tailing bonefish can be targeted. Other species present are barracuda, triggerfish, sharks, jacks and snapper.

The fishing program at the lodge is diverse and anglers can fine-tune the fishing to their desire and can fish a different water each day if prefer. Anglers can arrange to be guided during any portion of their stay, have access to a kayak, can be dropped off and picked up by a Salina Point staff member, or be shuttled by boat to a fishing location. We had use of a boat and driver for the day that took us to various locations where we got out of the boat and waded the areas. What we liked about being shuttled to locations was that rather taking turns fishing in the bow of a boat, we both were fishing the entire time and actually encountering schools of bonefish. At times the guide also waded the area looking for fish. He would call us over to his location if he found bones. There is also a wadable beach right in front of the lodge.
