In the heart of Beaufort, North Carolina’s picturesque waterfront, Queen Anne’s Revenge is a restaurant where every meal is an experience. We found it to be the ideal place to grab a bite to eat, a cold drink and to unwind reminiscing of our day on the water. And what’s not to like about an eatery with a good pirate story connection?
The restaurant takes its name from the ship of the legendary pirate Blackbeard. Queen Anne’s Revenge was originally a French ship named La Concorde that was built around 1710. It was used as a slave shop, until captured by Blackbeard. The name is believed to reference Queen Anne of Great Britain, who possibly rejected Blackbeard’s service in the Royal Navy during Queen Anne’s War.
The ship was heavily armed and was used by the pirate to attach merchant vessels and blockade ports. One of its most notable actions was the blockade of Charleston Harbor in 1718, when Blackbeard held the city hostage for supplies. The ship’s fate was met when attempting to navigate the shallow waters of the Beaufort Inlet and running aground. Abandoned, it was lost to history until its discovery in 1996.
Guests can enjoy a view of those same waters from the restaurant deck while savoring dishes such as bacon jam scallops, lobster pizza, crab dip, and seared tuna. The eatery also offers a variety of sandwiches, tacos, seafood, and appetizers. Other menu items include Southwest chicken, hamburger steak, shrimp scampi, barbecue chicken and crab cakes. Sides include Greek pasta salad, hashbrown casserole, bacon chive potato salad, seasoned black beans and jasmine rice. A full bar is also available, along with a selection of other refreshing beverages. A live band is often present entertaining folks on the porch.
