When fishing in the area of Apalachicola, Florida, Paddy’s Raw Bar on St. George Island is a great option for a cold drink and a bite to eat. They bill themselves as a “sunny place for shady people.”  Positioned on the St. George Sound side of the island, the establishment sits in a natural sub-tropical setting.

Whether stopping in for a snack and a cold drink or if you’re desiring a satisfying hearty meal, Paddy’s is the place. The restaurant’s seating options include indoor and outdoor areas that are casual and comfortable. They can easily provide tables for a couple anglers, your larger group, or you can sit at their bar with plenty of televisions. During our visit, we were hoping to secure a front-row seat to catch a favorite football team on TV, so their large bar perfectly fit the bill!

Their extensive menu includes Apalachicola oysters, obtained fresh off the boats every day and prepared in a variety of ways. Appetizers offered also include a hearty seafood gumbo, crab or tuna dip, and chilled shrimp salad. There are plenty of sandwich and wrap options, soups and sides. Besides shrimp, also on the menu are other seafoods such as Alaskan snow crab legs, tuna, mahi mahi and chicken prepared to your taste. There are also menu items that will please the “Little Shuckers” in your family, as well as mouth-watering desserts such as Key lime pie, ultimate chocolate cake, and old-fashioned vanilla cheesecake. They offer a broad selection of wines and beers to complete the meal or quench your thirst.

When the management describes their eatery and watering hole with one word, it is “local.” Their goal is to create a place where friends and family want to hang out together, enjoy a cold beverage and enjoy some delicious Apalachicola oysters. They also offer live entertainment and more to keep you coming back. In fact, this philosophy has kept them around for 10 years already. We found this to be very true, in fact, even though we had a variety of options for our second night eating out, we chose to return to Paddy’s. It was that good!
