Lucy Buffett’s Gulf Shores, Alabama restaurant (yes, that’s Jimmy’s sister or Crazy Sista as Lucy refers to herself) LuLu’s is known for fun, food and music! The eatery is the original and flagship restaurant for what has become a three-location chain, with other sites in Destin, Florida and North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

“He had my grandfather’s twinkle in his eye to the end and he was very clear that the music, the party, and the good life was to continue with his robust optimism in tow,” Lucy said of her late brother. “He didn’t care about resting in peace. His last words to me were ‘have fun.’” Jimmy was born on Christmas Day in 1946 in Mississippi. Growing up on the Gulf, he eventually settled his family in Mobile, Alabama. He was 76 years old when he died.
Every dish prepared and offered by LuLu’s was designed and created by Lucy in her own kitchen. The entire menu, including sauces and dressings, are made from scratch and never frozen. They have a special menu for those suffering from allergies. LuLu’s serves authentic coastal cuisine with a heapin’ helpin’ of Crazy Sista love!
Their extensive menu includes starters such as quesadillas, nachos, shrimp bisque, fried crab claws, and gumbo. Favorites and entrees are shrimp and grits, tacos, Key West bowl, grouper, mahi mahi, and chicken tenders. Side dishes include fruit, green beans and black beans, cheese grits, guacamole, fried okra, mac ‘n cheese and more. Salads offered are LuLu’s classic Ceasar, Greek salad, shrimp salad, and chicken, shrimp, grouper, or mahi mahi for added proteins. Sandwich and cheeseburger options offer New Orleans style Po’ Boy, jerk chicken, Crazy Sista’s Pulled Pork, cheeseburger, and LuLu’s Famous fish sandwich. Sweets complete the meal are Key lime pie, various flavors of sorbet, Brownie-in-Paradise or bread pudding.
