St. James, Missouri

They say you should never judge a book by its cover. That old adage also can apply to other things. For instance, just because a cabin looks “rustic” on the outside doesn’t mean that also applies within. A perfect example of that can be found at Lost Creek Ranch Getaway Cabins & Lodge near St. James, Missouri.

The interior of the four cabins making up this complex are quite different from their outer shells. The appliances are modern and the furnishings fresh and comfortable. And, different from what is often encountered in cabin rentals, everything works. You’ll also enjoy the seclusion of Lost Creek Ranch. When you turn off of State Route 8 at 7 miles south of St. James, the last quarter mile to the cabins’ driveway is along a paved lane through a forested refuge on either side.
To add to the appeal of Lost Creek cabins, they are situated less than a 5-minute drive from the trout fishing action at Maramec Spring Park. In fact, if you have a sharp ear, you can stand on the cabin porches and hear the horn sounding at the park marking the start time for fishing there in the mornings. This location also puts you in a position for easy access to the float trips on the Meramec River (yes, the name of the park and spring are spelled differently from that of the river) for trophy trout and smallmouth bass.

The cabins at Lost Creek Ranch offer differing layouts to suit varied size groups. The Dogwood Cabin has one bedroom with a queen bed and a single bathroom. An upstairs loft is ideal for youngsters to spread sleeping bags as well.

In the Bluebird Cabin there is a queen bedroom downstairs, plus a large bedroom upstairs that has a queen bed and two full-sized double beds. The downstairs has a full bath, while a half bath is on the second level.
The Valley View Cabin features three bedrooms with full-sized double beds, plus an upstairs bedroom with three twin beds. The cabin has a single bath with shower.

All four of the cabins have furnished kitchens with full-sized appliances.
