The brewery, not the movie
End of the Line

Their motto is what first attracted me to this brewery in downtown Blue Ridge, Georgia. “If we don’t like it, we don’t drink it. If we don’t drink it, we don’t sell it.” As you can see, they get right to the point with a sense of humor, and I like that. The best part though is, with 30 different taps including seasonal rotations, there will be something of all tastes. That’s whether you have been drinking craft beers for years or just learning to appreciate them. A sampling of their flagship brews are Choco Blanco White Chocolate Wheat Ale, Scentsation Double IPA and Hell’s Hotter Porter.

Grumpy Old Men Brewing was established in 2013, and as their description goes; “Two retired beer enthusiasts were learning how to brew their own concoctions. An argument ensued about what ingredients to throw in the mix, and one of their wives told them that they sounded like a couple of Grumpy Old Men.” Well, the name stuck.
Since then, the original two grumpy old men retired again and handed over the business to another grumpy old man and his crabby lady over seven years ago. The tradition continues and the two original owners get to enjoy the beer from the other side of the bar.
So, what’s the connection to fly fishing? Bob Borgwat, Event Coordinator of Blue Ridge Trout & Outdoor Adventures Festival offered an explanation, “Grumpy Old Men Brewing Company is a presenting partner of the Blue Ridge Trout & Outdoor Adventures Festival. That puts them at the top of the heap of annual sponsors of the event, which has been in place since 2016. Trout Fest celebrates trout fishing and outdoor recreation in Fannin County — the Trout Capital of Georgia — and Grumpy Old Men beer is the official beer of Trout Fest.”
Grumpy Old Men is open seven days a week and allows children and dogs. They have live music on Fridays and Saturdays, and karaoke on Thursdays. The brewery also has an outdoor patio with plenty of space for large or small groups.

Scrappy’s Snackshack is their go-to vendor on Thursdays through Sundays. They offer a variety of all-beef hotdogs and Italian sausage sandwiches, as well as other snacks such as pretzels and nachos with cheese, grilled chicken bites, and taco salads. Bags of assorted snacks are offered in the taproom all other days.
The brewery only serves beer and seltzers that they brew, but the options are plentiful. They sell six-packs and also sell or fill 32- and 64-ounce growlers for off-site consumption. Additionally, they offer flights of four beers and do offer samples for tasting.
Flavors on their “Just Pick a Damn Beer!” menu include more than a half dozen light beers, a strong ale, a couple hard sodas or seltzers, a handful of malty ales, seven IPAs and pales, plus a sour. They even have a couple non-alcoholic options. Finally, the brewery sells gift cards for the beer aficionado in your life.
