Article by Polly Dean.
To experience the great views not commonly seen in the Bahamas, Exuma provides elevated vantage points overlooking the tropical waters that surround this unique island. Such vistas from Grand Isle Resort & Spa will satisfy and please the most demanding of visitors. Balconies offer views of Emerald Bay, the golf course or beautifully landscaped gardens, while one enjoys the island breezes. This facility can provide a luxury headquarters for a fly-fishing adventure on the nearby bonefish flats.
Designed in a classic West Indies-style architecture, complemented by elegant interior décor, the spacious one- to four-bedroom villas are thoughtfully designed for comfort and elegance. They feature large bathrooms with whirlpool spa bathtubs, along with gourmet-style kitchens with full-size appliances including Sub-Zero refrigerators.
Exquisite poolside dining is available at the on-property Palapa Restaurant. Mouthwatering classic dishes of Bahamian cuisine are offered. Fresh, local seafood is served, along with American favorites of choice cuts of meat. Tropical cocktails with fresh local ingredients are also served in this lush tropical setting. The Sandy Toes beach shack sits at the sand’s edge, also serving cocktails and food items, such as jerk chicken, pork and ribs, with an assortment of side items.

The resort also offers unforgettable experiences for the children and families to enjoy together. The Hummingbird Hut team provides a variety of activities that youngsters can enjoy and the adults will envy. Children ages 5 to 12 are invited to play the day away at the beach and the pool for treasure hunts, tossing horseshoes and exploring the ocean via kayaks, boogie boards or stand-up paddle-boards.
Guests can sample more of what the Exumas have to offer by enjoying excursions, such as swimming with the pigs, or stingrays. Snorkeling, scuba diving and deep-sea fishing may appeal to others that are more adventurous. The resort also can, of course, arrange fly-fishing trips with local guides.
The SeaStar Spa offers guests a chance to indulge their bodies and renew their senses in the comfort of their villa, on the beach or at the pool. Couples can relax and unwind with side-by-side massages, treatments and champagne, while the kids are treated to a scoop of ice cream with their Mini Mani or Mini Pedi.
Boaters can take advantage of all the resort’s amenities while docking at the adjacent Marina at Emerald Bay. This 23-acre, ultimate yachting paradise offers 150 slips that accommodate boats up to 260 feet in length. Other marine amenities are Bellingham floating docks, a dockside restaurant and private clubhouse.
The Grand Isle staff is also available and ready to create the perfect wedding or special event with your personal style in mind. The new 23° North Beach Club will soon be ready to host any conference or banquet. It is a luxurious indoor and outdoor space featuring a pool, bar and restaurant. Toast your special occasion with a beach bonfire or say “I do” perched on the powdery white sand.
