In the heart of our nation’s oldest city of St. Augustine is Catch 27, a unique and laid-back restaurant that serves delicious Southern cuisine. The eatery’s focus is fresh seafood, with a menu offering choices for every taste, including vegan and gluten-free. The atmosphere is comfortable, festive and cozy all in one. We sat on the patio under the live oaks and strung lights. The service and attention to detail were top-notch.

The restaurant strives to prepare and serve the freshest of seafood that is caught locally. They cook everything from scratch including local produce and using seasonal ingredients. The fish, shrimp and clams are caught in Florida. Fish offered includes snapper, sheepshead, mahi-mahi, triggerfish. flounder and black drum. Landlubbers will also find something on the menu to enjoy.

Other dishes include crab cakes, salmon and lobster gnocci, as well as a variety of chowders. A favorite is Minorcan seafood chowder served with croutons. Minorcan chowder is one of St. Augustine’s signature dishes. It is a tomato-based stew filled with local vegetables, seafood and clams. It’s signature ingredient, which gives it a little kick is the Datil pepper, a pepper brought centuries ago from Cuba and now found and harvested primarily in the vicinity of our oldest city.

A mouth-watering dessert will complete your meal. Offerings include dark chocolate crème brulee, apple tarte tatin or a special daily preparation. A wide selection of classic or specialty cocktails are also available, as well as a variety of beers and wines.

Visitors to the historic city will enjoy this distinctive and casual restaurant. It’s truly a unique property without being pretentious or stuffy. Guests may opt for dining inside or when the weather is pleasant, out on the patio. It truly is as comfortable as dining with friends without the hassle.
