Located in Lucaya on the south shore of Grand Bahama Island in the suburbs of Freeport, the Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach Resort is a great example of just how affordable visiting the Bahamas can be.
Of course, heading to a tropical island for some angling may not be the easiest sale for other family members not into fly fishing. On the other hand, this all-inclusive resort puts you very near some great bonefish flats, while also providing a wide range of activities for the rest of the family.
All 274 guest rooms are located n victorian-style structure, including either balconies or terraces providing ourstanding views of the property and ocean.

The Viva Wyndham features 26 acres of lush foliage, native wildlife and palm-tree studded beaches. On property you will find a large freshwater swimming pool, or you can hit the saltwater along the white sand beach. You can paddle a kayak, go snorkeling or get into a beach volleyball game. Also expect to find plenty of deck chairs for relaxing after those activities.

Once you’re rested and have freshened up, there are three restaurants with international cuisine to tempt you on the property.

Vacations at the resort include accommodations, all meals and snacks, unlimited beverages, cocktails and wine. There is a kid’s club, selection of water and land sports, theme nights, live shows and a discotheque.

Most importantly, the south shore of the island offers some great flats for fishing, featuring names like Pelican Point, the Graveyard Flat and the Bowl. The concierge in the resort lobby can hook you up with a local fishing guide, or you can arrange a rental car to explore the flats along Grand Bahama Highway (just remember to stay on the left when driving here!).
Visit the Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach Resort website for more details. You may be surprised at how small a dent in your finances a trip to the Bahamas can make.
