Hartwell, Georgia

End of the Line

March 2023

After a day on the water fishing Hartwell Lake on the South Carolina/Georgia border, there’s a great place to unwind on the Peach State side of the border. Make the short drive over to  the town of Hartwell and the Southern Hart Brewing Company.

Since opening in 2018, owners Scott and Suzanne Barfield have turned their pub and eatery into the perfect place for lunch or dinner, grabbing a craft beer or just hanging out and watching a ball game on the six big-screen televisions.

The establishment offers a full bar, up to 20 locally craft beers, along with the signature beers overseen by Scott as the brew master. The food menu features a wide range of dishes from bison burgers, to Cuban sandwiches and buffalo bleu chicken tacos. Or maybe you’d prefer a simple BLT or platter of wings that come in six flavors?

The brewery also provides a full schedule of entertainment and events. During the week there are bingo and trivia nights. On Friday and Saturday, it is live music from local and regional acts, followed by an Open Mic evening on Sundays.

On March 17 the brewery will be hosting its St. Patrick’s Day party, featuring burgers & mash, corn beef and cabbage, shepherds pie and green beer. The Big Teach Band will be providing the music.
